Tim Dempsey - Head Coach

Now entering his sixth
season as the Mountaineers first head soccer coach, Tim Dempsey
has laid the foundation for a successful future.
Dempsey’s first five
seasons already established a reputation as solid fundamental
teams highlighted by a tenacious defense.
Dempsey came to
Mansfield after a stint as the most successful coach in the
Mayflower Conference history. In 12 years as the head mentor at
Green Mountain College in Vermont, his Eagles won 11 conference
championships, advancing to the NAIA National Championship
Tournament in 1990, 1996 and 2000. His 2000 team also posted an
undefeated record and ranked #6 in the nation.
Dempsey was the
Mayflower Conference Women’s Soccer Coach of the Year in 1989,
90, 91, 94, 97, 98 and 2000 and the NAIA District V Coach of the
Year in 1992 and NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year in 1990, 96,
99 and 2000.
In addition to his
success on the soccer field at Green Mountain, Dempsey also
served as head women’s basketball coach where he directed his
team’s to Mayflower Championships five times while being named
Coach of the Year on six occasions.
A legendary high school
player in his native New Jersey, Dempsey went on to become a
four-year First Team All-Conference play at Glassboro State
College (now Rowan College) and was captain of the 1981 National
Championship Team while earning All-American honors.
In 1982, Dempsey
graduated Magna Cum Laude from Glassboro with a BA in health and
physical education.
Dempsey, along with his
wife Heather, is very active member of the Mansfield community
serving as a member of the board of MARA soccer and the United
Fund. They live in Mansfield with their children Colleen, Ryan
and Erin.
